Music
______________________________________________________________
I've been interested in music since I was a wii little kid. I got my first drumset at 9, my first guitar at 16, and my first marimba at 25. I can be obsessive when it comes to music theory, aural training, and time signatures.
I listen to music differently than a lot of people. They listen for pure enjoyment; I listen for enjoyment AND to learn songwriting techniques, song structure, and orchestration ideas.
If I had to pick only one instrument, I'd call myself a drummer/percussionist. I'm glad I don't have to choose just one. I picked up the guitar quite a bit during my college years because my apartment would not let me bang the drums. Guitar is much quieter!
I learned to play the euphonium/baritone, 4-mallet marimba, keyboard, various percussion instruments, trumpet, trombone, tuba, saxaphone, and recorder during my school years as well.
I am interested in various genres including progressive metal/rock, classical, baroque, hip-hop, electronic/dance, metal, pop, and bluegrass.
I am currently (and always) writing solo music. I have written musical scores to many short films in Austin, Texas. I have a videogame music podcast in iTunes. I've played and performed with various ensembles.
